Quit! Again. Let's see if it holds this time.

I always quit, this will be the third and I hope final time, for the same reason. I comment on someone's post and then hours later I'm embarrassed by what I said. Today I made a stupid, pointless (hey, it's Facebook) comment on my brother-in-law's post about a computer problem. I did it quickly and without noting that many others had already commented. I said the same thing that someone had said earlier and she pointed it out to me. OK, said I. The only way to avoid all this nonsense is to just get out of FB. I don't need it, I don't learn anything much on it, but I admit that I check it several times a day. Waste of time. I'll read two more books a year, I figure, with the time I'll save.

It's okay to make stupid comments - it's facebook! You are also not required to read all the previous comments before posting. No rules! I used to fret about my comments, but as long as I don't say something I would not want to see on the front page of the local paper, I don't worry about it.

Thank you bitten. I think I needed someone to say that to me. In fact, this post was probably intended, subconsciously, to elicit soothing words like "it's okay to make stupid comments." So you used to fret but overcame it? I've never been good at turning off my fretting button. (And boy do I fret about some silly things.)

FB is innately stupid, but it's a great way to keep up with people. I use my blog for more personal writing, but FB is perfect for the frivolous, junior high side of me. ;)

Haha. I did the same thing today on my cousins status about a pintrest issue. She pointed it out and then deleted the entire convo. Sometimes I don't look to see that the comments have been collapsed under the feed. Oh well. It's just the internet.

I like FB for keeping in touch with the 500 teammates, classmates and family members who don't read my blog.

It looks like you guys treat FB with a light heart, which is great. If I rejoin (please don't Pam, please don't Pam) I will try to remember that most people don't take anything very seriously in that arena. My problem, I think, is my incredibly thin skin and probably -- man I hate to admit this -- my fear of embarrassment. What sane person gets embarrassed about a meaningless comment on Facebook? Apparently me. Do I like that about myself. No! Can I fix it? I doubt it.

it's hereditary ... if you figure out how to fix it, let me know (as I fret to make sure that I've spelled hereditary correctly) xo,k

Facebook Sucks.

Facebook sucked up a lot of my posting energy -- so much easier to send a quick mobile photo there than to process photos and compose something lengthier and pithier for the blog.

But my new job keeps me off Facebook most of the day and I'm tired of seeing so much stupidity and anger there now. I still use it to keep up with people, but I need to get back to blogging more.

Good luck to you if you can stay off it!

For the record, I rejoined FB about a month ago. So much for willpower.
